And the Mystery Continues…

I got a 1GB stick of ram for my computer over the weekend, but it didn’t stop the blinking/random white screen.  My iBook is much faster, though, but it still blinks.

I was resigned to having to get a new computer since I was sure that meant it was the logic board that was broken.  Then my dad found out that I have a hardware test on my install disc 1, so when I got back to school I ran the test twice.  No logic board problems were detected either time.  All my other hardware was fine as well.

I decided to hook it up to an external monitor that my roommate has and when my iBook’s screen went white, the external monitor’s screen did not.  Nor did that blink when my iBook blinked.  So, it’s some sort of problem with the display.

But I have absolutely no idea if it’s the lcd display or one of the cables that connect the screen to the laptop.  Nor do I know how to find out which it is.  The funny part is that the ‘Geniuses’ at the Apple Store said there was pretty much no chance of the problem being with a cable.  They thought for sure it was the logic board.  Good news is that they said a cable fix is around $20.  I really hope that’s what it is.

Speaking of Apple computers, I saw the new iMac at my college’s bookstore and I yelled out, “OH MY GOD IT’S BEAUTIFUL!!!” and the lady working behind the counter grinned at me and said, “I don’t think I’ve heard anyone ever call it beautiful before!”

The new iMacs really are beautiful, so sexy. I don’t like the new MacBooks though because the trackpad sucks. You’d probably have to get a mouse to enjoy it.

But other than that, EOI…my HP laptop had display problems. Sometimes when I turn it on, the screen would come on and sometimes it won’t. If I move the screen up a little or down, it would flicker a little bit and I’d see some lines going through. Hopefully your iBook is an easy fix!
