The Last Critique

Today I wrote my last critique for my Creative Writing class.  After spending two months writing four critiques a week, I finally finished.  I wrote 19 of them. I’ve written more critiques for that class than I have actual stories.

So, goodbye critiques.  I can’t say I’ll miss you.  Well, goodbye until next semester when I take my advanced creative writing class.

RIP Moony

After approximately a year of swimming around in his tank, Moony the Half-Moon betta died.  I am not entirely sure when he died, but I found out when I went home for Easter last weekend.

RIP Moony, you were a good betta.

They Just Can’t Make Up Their Minds

Warner Brothers has changed the release date for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince yet again.  It is now being released two days earlier, on July 15th instead of July 17th.  Random, yes, but I’m not complaining.

The entire article can be read at The Leaky Cauldron.

And the Mystery Continues…

I got a 1GB stick of ram for my computer over the weekend, but it didn’t stop the blinking/random white screen.  My iBook is much faster, though, but it still blinks.

I was resigned to having to get a new computer since I was sure that meant it was the logic board that was broken.  Then my dad found out that I have a hardware test on my install disc 1, so when I got back to school I ran the test twice.  No logic board problems were detected either time.  All my other hardware was fine as well.

I decided to hook it up to an external monitor that my roommate has and when my iBook’s screen went white, the external monitor’s screen did not.  Nor did that blink when my iBook blinked.  So, it’s some sort of problem with the display.

But I have absolutely no idea if it’s the lcd display or one of the cables that connect the screen to the laptop.  Nor do I know how to find out which it is.  The funny part is that the ‘Geniuses’ at the Apple Store said there was pretty much no chance of the problem being with a cable.  They thought for sure it was the logic board.  Good news is that they said a cable fix is around $20.  I really hope that’s what it is.

Easter, According to Children

Yesterday at church, during the children’s sermon.
Pastor-  What do you think of when you hear the word Easter?

Children-  Eggs, bunnies, candy, toys.

Pastor-  What is Easter really about?

Little Girl-  A really fast bunny goes and gives everyone eggs!

Pastor-  Actually, Easter really doesn’t have anything to do with bunnies.  What’s Easter really about?

Little Girl-  Eggs!

It Would Be Classy

One of the dining halls on campus recently put in a suggestion box.  They then post some of the suggestions along with answers on a bulletin board.  One of these suggestions was ‘You should put in a big fish tank or a shark tank.  It would be classy.’

The response was.  ‘If you want more class, I’ll talk to the academic department about adding Sunday classes.’

Then, my RA put up a suggestion poster in our hall.  A few days after it was put up, someone wrote ‘Shark tank, it would be classy.’  It was probably the same guy.

Twilight Sauce

Every year Harry Potter Fan Fiction (HPFF) pulls an April Fool’s Day prank on the archieve and the forums.  Last year they turned the entire site into a site devoted only to Harry/Cho and Sirius/Lily ships (short for relationships, basically only stories where Harry & Cho and Sirius & Lily go out).  It was my first prank on that site (I’d only been a member for a few days) and I completely fell for it.  They left it up for a few days, so a lot of people thought it was real.

Ever since then I’d been anticipating this year’s prank because I knew I would not fall for it.  Sure enough, Tuesday evening, HPFF turned into TwilightSauce.  It became a fan fiction site devoted to Twilight.  This is especially funny because a lot of Harry Potter fans can’t stand Twilight.  I like them both, although nothing will ever come close to my Harry Potter obsession.  The TwilightSauce site is actually incredibly funny, if you care to check it out.  It’s still up.  But the admins put HPFF back up yesterday.  A lot of people fell for it, but I was just laughing.  This was the best prank I’ve seen them pull.
